Bronze and Copper Inlay
This class will explore the techniques used to create an inlay effect using Hadar Jacobson's Quick Fire copper and bronze clays. Create a unique piece by using both clays - one as the "positive " and the other as the "negative " color. Pieces will be fired after class. The student will be responsible for the finishing and patina of the piece at home or in open studio.

Bronze and Copper Metal Clay
Create beautiful jewelry pieces using the Hadar Jacobson's bronze and copper clays. This fun and creative 2 part class will teach you how to design, texture, and fire metal clay to make earrings, charms and or pendants. Various techniques will be demonstrated and discussed for design and textures. The processes for firing, finishing and use patina will be discussed and used to complete your pieces.

Bronze, Copper, Bangle Bracelets
Use bronze and/or copper to create unique bangle bracelets of your own design. Textures, combinations of clay, carving techniques and extruders that may be used to create the bracelet will be demonstrated and discussed. More than one bracelet may be made during the session depending on techniques used. Firing will take place after the session. Finishing techniques, sizing, and patina options will be discussed. Students may bring their own texture plates, tools, carving tools, a bangle bracelet to help determine sizing.

Intermediate Intensive Metal Clay
This is not a basic class. Students should have a good command of the techniques and working properties of PMC. We will make two pendants with bails. One pendant will be made using the water etching technique, and the other is made using paper painting techniques. Several different ways to make bails will be explored. Level: Intermediate or advanced beginner. Materials: PMC and a jar of PMC paste (slip) either homemade or purchased (preferably). Materials are available for purchase from the instructor or Studio 34. Bring the following : PMC tools, a make-up sponge wedge or small piece of natural sponge, leftover bright nail polish, assorted large drinking straws.

Intermediate Metal Clay
In this series of 3 classes, many techniques and projects will be covered including making molds and texture plates, earrings with custom ear wires, rings, and incorporating dichroic glass and 24 carat gold into precious metal clay. Supplies available at additional cost, and will depend on the project and technique.

Metal Clay Cuff Bracelet
Students can choose either bronze or copper or both to create a cuff bracelet. The bracelet will be 1 inch wide or less - perfect to stack several or just one - depending on what you like. Basic metal clay construction techniques and extruders will be used to create a bracelet. Piece will be fired after class. Finishing and patinas will be discussed.

Metal Clay Textures and Molds
You can give your PMC creations a more personal look by using non-commercially available textures. In this class we will use found objects to make molds from two part silicone, and printed materials to make tear away sheets from polymer clay. Also using polymer clay, students learn to carve their own designs into texture sheets. Students are encouraged to bring found objects such as antique buttons, leaves, dry flowers, etc. Instructor provides texture and mold examples. Materials in kit: metallic polymer clay, tone printed sheets, two part silicone. Time permitting, students may experiment with their molds and textures, but pieces will not be fired.

Mokume Gane Effect
Mokume Gane is the effect created by mixing metals to create patterns and contrast., Using a chemical patina in a controlled oxidation or corrosion process, colors and contrast can be altered in strikingly beautiful ways. This workshop uses Hadar Jacobson's quick fire bronze and copper clays to create a pair of earrings or pendants which will be fired and available for pick up the following week. Students will finish/sand/patina at home or in open studio.

PMC Charm Bracelet
This is a 2 session class. Session 1: Create your own charms using Precious Metal Clay (PMC). Charms may be customized and engraved with special dates, names, your logo and initials, pictures, etc. Session 2: Apply a finish and polish your charms, and learn how to hand craft a chain maille bracelet and add your unique charms.

PMC Earrings with Torch Firing
This is a beginning class, but experienced students who want to learn to torch fire PMC pieces are welcome. In the space of three hours, the students will design and make a pair of earrings. Firing pieces with a culinary butane torch will be demonstrated. The students may purchase a pair of prefabricated sterling earring wires. PMC Lentil and Drum Bead
Two three-hour sessions. In this class the students will fabricate the parts for the drum bead and the lentil bead. They will learn to make a bail and to securely join the different parts of these beads. After firing the beads, we will finish, antique them and polish them to the students' preference. PMC Pre-Certification Workshop
For Certification by Rio Grande, you will be expected to work on seven projects. In this pre-certification workshop we will practice the more challenging projects: the lentil bead, the constructed tetrahedron, the woven earrings. We will discuss all seven projects so you can be familiar with what you need to do on the Certification weekend. PMC 3 Clay, PMC paper, and a small lab created stone will be available for purchase, but you may bring your own. Bring your basic tools. Some experience necessary.

PMC Ring and Paper Painted Pendant
A three session workshop for advanced students. Projects include a two part ring, fired twice for two hours, and a pendant created by painting several coats of slip (metal clay "glue") on paper. Prior to firing the pendant, students attach a decorative bail. The pendant is fired for two hours. Depending on the time it takes students to create both pieces, a final extra session for finishing might be necessary at additional cost. Materials required: PMC 25 gram and a jar of PMC paste. PMC and PMC paste may be provided by the student or purchased at the studio by ordering in advance.
