Stringing and Design PrinciplesEager to learn how to design and string your own unique beaded jewelry? This is the course that will lay the foundation for many more beautiful bracelets and necklaces. Warning: once your friends find out you can make jewelry, you will be very busy. It's fun and profitable, too. Course content Includes: textures and shapes, design principles, world tour of bead sources, materials used by professional jewelry artists, how to add a clasp, the proper use of tools, crimps that don't break, and selling jewelry for fun and profit. Class project is a bracelet with your choice of semi-precious stones, crystals, glass beads, fresh water pearls, and two sterling, seamless crimps. Color Theory for Bead and Fiber ArtistsThis workshop will focus on the basics of color theory and help demystify why some colors work well together, why others don't, and how to get a pleasing palette in your work. Sometimes artists get in "color ruts" and tend to go with just blues or just reds, but this workshop will help you break out of your color rut and feel comfortable with new and exciting color combinations. Alanna has developed a technique she uses in her artwork to help pick colors. Students will leave the workshop confident about their choices and with a good color sense. Porcelain Pendant BeadsThis is a new two session series. In session I, students learn how to roll, stamp, and cut thin porcelain slabs to create focal beads and pendant beads for necklaces and earrings. Between sessions, the instructor will dry and bisque fire student's work. Students will notified to pick up their beads once they are fired and take them home for sanding. In session II, learn how to glaze beads using a selection of glazes provided by the instructor.
