Beaded Hand Felted Bangle with Carol Cypher
Dabble in the magic of felt making while creating a soft and luxurious bracelet. Employ traditional techniques with the advantage of using a Turbo Felting Board to accelerate felting the fine fibers into a dense and flexible cane. In this special session designed especially for Studio 34 and Bead Breakout, you will get to choose from several finishing techniques. Join the tapered ends within a beaded bead you will learn in class; in a decorative knot that you will embellish with pearls, drops or other special beads, or to frame a special focal element. Expect to wear your lovely, though damp, bangle from class. Materials fee of $10 covers extra special soft Merino wool for felting and use of equipment. Optional purchase of Carol's Turbo Felting Board is $30. Supplies to purchase before class: magatama or drop beads, sizes 6,8, two 11's and a cylinder bead or: crystals/pearls/drops/sequins/rondelles and size 11 or 15 for turning beads, beading thread and needles. Beginning Soft Glass Sculpture with Deb Crowley
In this beginning/intermediate sculpture class, we will learn how to sculpt animals out of "soft" glass. Have you tried to sculpt in soft glass and had your piece crack or break? Then this is the class you will want to take, from Deb Crowely, organizer of GlassStock. In this class, we take sculpting a little further with the vibrant colors and fast melt of soda lime glass. Begin with a beautiful little hummingbird bead. Next, make a fantasy fun fish wearable bead. We will then make a realistic Wrasse fish with enamel patterning and finally, a cool Green Spotted Filefish. Deb will demo another type of fish if time allows. Learn heat base basics for sculpting. Blown Boro Seashells with Deb Crowley
Learn how to blow seashells using "hard" boro glass tubing in this advanced level workshop. With this type of glass, you have more time to learn basic shapes without the fear of keeping it hot like with "soft" soda lime glass. Class begins with a couple of shell pendants, which are smaller and easier to create. We also cover perfect loops in 4 easy steps so there's no more reaming and grinding them out with tungsten. After lunch, make a gorgeous Spider Conch shell with 4 layers of color. Learn punty types, color striking, and how to read the heat base. Tool list sent upon registration. Crossover for Fusing with Deb Crowley
Have you tried to make realistic scenes in fused glass and are just frustrated with all the cutting and grinding of flat glass? Are you a torch worker making components but need help? Then this is the next class for you. In this beginning class learn how to sculpt flower petals, stamens, leaves, tendrils and stems and even butterflies and dragonflies out of soft glass. You will make components on a torch using of vibrant soft glass rod colors to fuse into a raised design on a flat panel of glass. Learn to blend, shade, and make realistic components that make fusing come alive. Tools and eye protection provided. Bring your own if you have them. Additional glass available. Purple Plum Polygon Bangle Bracelet with Carol Cypher
If Polygon stitch is new to you, you will marvel at learning that this stitch is worked in the round, yet collapses into flat sides. If you are familiar with Polygon stitch, you will enjoy my renegade start which replaces the traditional one. Two Sides to Every Story Bracelet with Carol Cypher
Make this reversible bracelet using an original stitch. Share Carol's discovery that by isolating the thread path of a tubular South African stitch, flat beadwork can be created. The surface of the beadwork becomes corrugated as you weave, pushing one bead to the front and one bead to the back, hence ......reversible! Carol Cypher is the author of there beading books.
